 Get Involved

Did you know that CREATE coordinates two groups of young people with an experience of out of home care who meet regularly to advise the Victorian government about issues to do with the care system? And we are recruiting more members to both groups.

The Ministerial Youth Advisory Group (MYAG) meets every two months with the Minister for Child Protection, as well as the heads of policy and practice in DFFH Child Protection. Young people aged 14-22 years get to explain issues in the care system, and raise their ideas for reforms with the key decision makers in the system. This means the voice of young people with a lived experience of care can play a major role in driving the reform of the care system.

The Transitions from Care Youth Expert Advisory Group (the YEAG) are young people aged 18-25 who use their first-hand knowledge of what it is like to transition from care to help DFFH Child Protection to build the best support services for young people during those important years. Specifically the YEAG is provides advice and feedback in relation to the Home Stretch and Better Futures programs.

CREATE will soon be holding an information night for young people wishing to apply to join MYAG or the YEAG. To request an expression of interest form, or for more info, please contact Patrick on patrick.weiniger@create.org.au or 0482 043 205.
