Ali is a result driven young professional with diverse experience in both public and not-for-profit sectors. He has over 3 years’ experience working and advocating in different fields including: social welfare, local government, refugee and asylum seekers rights, mental health and most importantly in the youth advocacy space.
His passion for youth advocacy and community development are driving factors to join the FCAV board. Ali believes in collaboratively working with foster carers and the local community to ensure children and young people in care are provided with a safe and nurturing home.
Ali is inspired by the lived experience voices and stories of foster carers as a driver of better resources and support to help improve the lives of children and young people in care.
Ali has completed his Bachelors degree in Political Science, International Relations at Victoria University of Wellington, NZ, and now is currently doing his Postgraduate studies in Public Policy. Ali was awarded the 2022 runner up NZ Minister of Health - Youth Volunteer award for his contribution to youth mental health and LGBTQI+ community.
Ali is excited and motivated to bring his experience and skills to the FCAV board and work alongside other board members.
