I have been a part of the community sector for the past 20 years, working in the justice system, working as a manager, and most recently in the NDIS space. Through these roles I have learnt valuable skills of working strongly with stakeholders, being able to manage, teach and mentor staff, empathy, listening, strong communication skills, working with diverse people, being able to build rapport, facilitate care teams and present in large forums.

Though one of my greatest roles is being a foster carer for the past 5 years. My wife and I have cared for more than 20 young children throughout this time.  I am passionate about the work and support FCAV provide and have utilised the support on numerous occasions. Which is why I am passionate to be a part of the much-needed change that we as carers need; to advocate for carers, be a voice, and provide the support that our carers need.

I was also honoured to join you and represent FCAV last year in Tasmania for the 2023 National Foster and Kinship Care Conference. I loved hearing and connecting with other carers, seeing and learning about what services and programs are being run throughout Australia and what we in Victoria are doing, and what we can do.
