The FCAV is grateful to Paul Edbrooke, Labor Member for Frankston and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, for establishing this multi-party collective of Victorian MPs who share our vision for improving the foster care system in Victoria and recognising and respecting the enormous contribution volunteer foster carers make to the state, to the community, and to the children and young people in their care.
Members of this newly formed group will consider systemic changes and improvements to the conditions under which foster carers provide care in Victoria.
We are pleased to announce the new group’s co-chairs:
Paul Edbrooke MP, State Member for Frankston, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer.
Roma Britnell MP, State Member for South West Coast, Shadow Minister for Child Protection.
With 34 Members of Parliament from a range of political parties signing on to be part of the Parliamentary Friends group, it promises to be a game-changer for advocacy and awareness.
The FCAV thanks the co-chairs and each of the parliamentarians who have signed up to support a strategic, state-based approach to improvements in the child protection system and we look forward to working with each of them.
Stay tuned for updates including a formal launch date and join us in supporting this exciting new chapter for foster care in Victoria.
