VOLUNTEER POSITION 

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Foster Care Association of Victoria’s Board of Directors, in the Executive position of Board Treasurer.

Position Summary

The FCAV Board of Directors not only have a passion and commitment to improving the outcomes for children in care, but also in making a difference through involvement at an organisational and state level.

The overall role of the Board of Directors is to ensure the organisation operates in accordance with any legal requirements, the organisation’s stated objectives and its rules or constitution. It is also responsible for setting, monitoring and reviewing key strategic policies and directions.

We are seeking an FCAV Member or Co-opted Community Member with relevant financial expertise to fill the role of Board Treasurer.

The Board meets monthly, and for regional Directors, travel and overnight accommodation costs are reimbursed, where necessary.

 Role of Treasurer

  • Overseeing the financial management of the organisation
  • Chairing and convening the Finance sub committee
  • Ensuring that true and proper financial records are kept
  • Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place and that sufficient risk management strategies are in place
  • Ensuring an annual audit is carried out
  • Regularly informing the Board of Directors about the organisation’s financial position through the monthly financial report
  • Assisting the Chief Executive Officer and bookkeeper in drawing up the draft budget
  • Ensuring that the state government compliance requirements are met
  • Be a member of the Executive Board.
