School Saving Bonus

Carers who were nominated as the primary contact for a school-aged child and young person attending state school in term 4, 2024, will have received an email from the Department of Education with instructions and a code to access a one-off $400 school savings bonus.

  • The School Saving Bonus is a one-off $400 support for government school students from Prep to Year 12 in 2025.

  • Non-government school students who are receiving the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) in 2024 are also eligible for the School Saving Bonus.

  • The School Saving Bonus offsets costs of uniforms, textbooks and school activities.

The $400 bonus is allocated to every eligible school student in your care. It is advisable that carers allocate funds to selected expenses by 30 June 2025. However, any amount not utilised by that date will remain in the students account and default to cover ‘school activities’ costs only, so uniform purchase vouchers and book purchase vouchers will not be available from 1 July, 2025.

More information: School Saving Bonus: Policy | education.vic.gov.au

If a carer hasn’t received an email because they weren’t the primary contact at the school in term 4, 2024, or for any other reason, they should get in touch with the child or young person’s school in the first instance or contact the School Saving Bonus team on:

email: school.saving.bonus@education.vic.gov.au

phone: 1800 338 663

If carers have any further queries about accessing the school savings bonus on behalf of a child in their care, they should contact their agency and/or discuss in care team meetings.
